Whiskers brings together a stellar group of tattooers from across the country around a single, open-ended prompt: “Cats.” Familiar and adaptable, the subject is embedded in traditional tattoo imagery and pop culture, offering a shared point of reference while allowing for a wide range of interpretation.
Artists draw from classic tattoo imagery—crawling panthers, tigers, and leopards—as well as pop culture references such as Felix the Cat, the Pink Panther, and Garfield. With more than twenty artists participating, the exhibition spans a broad range of materials and approaches, including mixed media, oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache, presented on canvas, wood, watercolor paper, apparel, and other surfaces.
At Timeless Thrills, our goal has always been to contribute to the culture of tattooing without extracting from it—to support the artists and the discipline with care, intention, and respect. While the participants in Whiskers are tattooers, the work presented here does not depend on that identity to be understood. These are fully realized works of art, experienced on their own terms.
Our relationship to tattooing is personal and longstanding, shaped by over two decades of collecting tattoos from artists around the world. Because of that history, this exhibition is approached with thoughtfulness and gratitude. Whiskers reflects that ethos—it is an honor to present this work and to share the level of skill, creativity, and seriousness these artists bring to their practice.
