"THE LOST WEEKEND" SOLO EXHIBITION

Art and Design

"The Lost Weekend" is a solo art exhibition at Timeless Thrills featuring paintings and other artwork by Guy Long.

"The Lost Weekend" looks at Los Angeles as a character. Whether that is relaxing at home, hanging with friends, going to the desert for the weekend or taking in a city view, Los Angeles is omnipresent. All in an effort to capture the feeling of living in Los Angeles and California.

In these vignettes I take people to a place and let them come up with the story. I encourage you to fill in the people, music, food, atmosphere and good times. Like a memory from looking at a polaroid of a fun hazy weekend watching clouds by the pool.

Made while watching movies with the sound off and listening to music by bands from L.A. or recorded there. The Doobie Brothers, Van Halen, Pages, Ambrosia, Steely Dan etc.

Also, keep an eye out for little L.A. easter eggs in all of my illustrations. Things like album covers from the aforementioned bands, books by L.A. native Bukowski and films set in Los Angeles on the TV in the back-ground.

Catch up on your emails and texts when you get back on Sunday. It's time to get lost.

Guy Long makes art under the name Rose City, CA. It is a cartoon version of life based on growing up in Pasadena, California.

Rose City, CA is a multi-media project that encapsulates illustration, painting, photography, music, product design, objects, murals, installs and magazines.  The idea for this project came to Guy while attending Art Center College of Design.
