Vern Skovpen is a Sacramento-based artist whose work explores nostalgia, romance, and the emotional weight of memory. Working across painting, printmaking, and mixed media, Skovpen blends traditional techniques with personal symbolism to create works that feel both intimate and timeless. Her practice often incorporates layered imagery, vintage materials, and romantic motifs—visual elements that reflect a dialogue between past and present.  

At the heart of Skovpen’s work is a search for emotional resonance. Through richly textured surfaces and carefully constructed compositions, she investigates themes of love, longing, and personal transformation. Her paintings frequently combine nostalgic references with contemporary forms, inviting viewers to reconnect with feelings of wonder, first love, and the beauty found in fleeting moments.  

Skovpen’s work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition in Paris at Galerie Keshavarzian, and continues to evolve through her exploration of painting, printing, and mixed media processes. Based in Sacramento, she creates work intended to inspire, evoke memory, and bring a sense of light and emotion into the spaces it inhabits.
